The vineyards of Rioja are set in huge tracts of land that make for excellent wlaking countryside. This is a fascinating region to visit on foot, you will see this from a privileged view-point.

Apart from the wines you will be tasting along the way, which are high quality, you will see nature at close hand.

We meet in Bilbao and our first walk gives us dramatic entry into Rioja Alta as we stride down to Castillo de Sajazarra.

Our base for exploring the Rioja Alta is a comfortable hotel with a Michelin* restaurant. We then stay in a 4* hotel in Haro, and finally in the village of Samaniego in a delightful family run Palacio (very good 2*) with an outstanding restaurant.

This tour includes 4 nights good 2*, 2 nights 4*, breakfasts, 7 meals with wines, visits, tastings, mini-bus support, transfers to and from Bilbao and Walk Guide.

The maximum party size is 16 and the walk rating is moderate with some steep sections, that can mostly be avoided if you wish.
