Australia - Yarra Valley
http://www.grapegrazing.com.au/The Yarra Valley Grape Grazing Festival celebrates its 22nd birthday in 2009 and the ever popular Festival has taken a fresh new direction with a new format, a record 26 wineries on board and still with the famous Yarra Valley flavour and style.
There are now three distinctly different experiences on offer over the Grape Grazing weekend on Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th February.
Wineries in the Graze level form the core of the Festival and continue the tradition of offering a great range of food to accompany their wines and fabulous entertainment on both days. Get a group together and soak up the fun atmosphere at a wide range of venues including Helen’s Hill where you can find the ideal place to relax in the shade under the gum trees. St Huberts will have classic 80’s music to dance to and the exceptional wines of St Huberts and Coldstream Hills, and Roundstone will have food available all day and a Beatles cover band “Rubber Soul” to get you on your feet.
The Taste level introduces a whole new dimension to the Festival and boutique wineries in this level are more suited to catering to smaller groups and those keen to learn more about wine. Devise your own tasting trail as you discover some of the secrets from the wine makers themselves and enjoy tastings of their superb wines. Taste has attracted some new wineries to the Festival for 2009 including the picturesque Yarrawood in Yarra Glen, and Outlook Hill Vineyard who will be releasing their exclusive “Gold Leaf” label series for Grape Grazing. Many wineries will offer delicious platters of local produce and you can even go on a free tour of the winery at Millers Dixon Creek Estate.
You can now also Indulge in a wonderful Grape Grazing lunch over the weekend before visiting a Taste or Graze winery. Under the Indulge level, those looking for a more exclusive experience can choose from the “Cupid’s Lunch” at the stunning Tokar Estate in Coldstream on the Saturday (St Valentine’s Day), or the “Vignerons Lunch” on the Sunday. De Bortoli Yarra Valley Estate will also be presenting two lunch events, the “Italian Delights” and the “100 Mile Lunch” that will only feature produce from the local region. Spaces are limited so book early!
There are also several Special Events from 11-15 February, including grand dinners, jazz evenings and a “Beat the Winemakers” challenge at Giant Steps/Innocent Bystander.
